Why Helping Hands exists

My story and why this community matters

Hi, I’m the creator of this project, and I have Poland syndrome myself.

Growing up, I realised that many people had never heard of the condition or understood what it was. That’s one of the reasons I decided to create this website and social media page. I want to raise awareness, share accurate information, and help others feel less alone.

Living with Poland syndrome has shown me the importance of kindness, understanding, and support. My hope is that by sharing my story and building this community, more people will learn about the condition and those affected by it will feel seen and included.

Every visitor, every share, and every conversation helps spread awareness. Thank you for taking the time to be here and support this mission.

A small idea that made a difference

💙 The Support That Changed My Journey

My journey with Poland syndrome has had its challenges, but I have always been incredibly lucky to have the support of my family. When I was a baby, I was diagnosed with Poland syndrome. As I grew older, my family worked closely with the NHS to find a doctor who understood my condition and could provide the care and support I needed. I will always be grateful to the NHS and the healthcare professionals who have been part of my journey. Their kindness, knowledge, and dedication have made a real difference in my life and inspired me to give back by raising awareness and supporting others living with Poland syndrome.

Last year, I organised a comic stall at my school to help raise money for the Poland Syndrome charity. Knowing that the money raised helped support children's clinics at Birmingham Children's Hospital, benefiting children and their families, made me incredibly proud. It also helped the charity continue its work by bringing families together, offering one-to-one support, and funding important research into Poland syndrome. Seeing the difference that fundraising can make inspired me to create this website and continue raising awareness so that even more people can receive the support they need.

That experience showed me that even small ideas can make a real difference. It inspired me to create this website and continue raising awareness, supporting families, and helping people understand what Poland syndrome is. My dream is to keep growing this project so that more people feel supported, more awareness is spread, and more lives can be positively impacted in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting this journey. Every visit, every share, and every act of kindness helps us move one step closer to making a real difference.
